As some of you may know, I’ve been struggling for a bit with my fashion sense. As in, I don’t really have any. Well, I decided a couple of months ago, when I was going through my “wardrobe” wishing that biker shorts were still in style…because I have so many pairs of them, that it was time to step my clothing game up. I mean, look, I might be a mom, but I’m still a woman. And I’m still (fairly) young. And I have a good butt. So, I made a declaration…no more “mom” jeans.
Fortunately, I got the opportunity to host a Bundle Up Bash at Old Navy earlier this month with my mom and my sister. We were all shopping for an outfit, pants, a sweater, and a winter accessory, that was both warm and stylish. My younger sister loves taking fashion risks, so she was a good person to accompany me on my mission of becoming more of a hot mama. I chose a few sweaters that I liked on the Old Navy website ahead of time so that I could have a starting point, and wouldn’t be tempted to fall into the plain options that I seem to gravitate towards lately.

At Old Navy, I really took the opportunity to step outside of my comfort zone…and even encouraged my mom to do the same. I tried on skinny jeans for the first time, and chose a dark wash that is more modern than the old jeans that I have been wearing. I loved the way my booty and legs looked in the skinny jeans, and was surprised at how comfortable they were. I also tried on a pair of Wide Leg Trouser Jeans that were super cute, too!
The best (and most challenging) part of the Bundle Up Bash, though, had to be choosing a sweater. Although I had sweaters that I knew I liked before we arrived at the store, there were a ton of in person options that I hadn’t even considered! I steered clear of black (my normal go to), and tried a few sexy tops, including a modern, cropped sweater that was totally not something that I would normally get. And I talked my mom into getting a lime green sweater, and my sister into getting a more conservative outfit than she would normally choose.
The outfits that I ended up with (we each got one free, and I purchased another), really make me feel like I have stepped into the 21st century. I’m not exaggerating. I still have clothes from my freshman year in college. But, who cares about that now? I have skinny jeans, a super sexy double V sweater (that my boyfriend thought I had on backwards until I explained the double V thing, but whatever), and a new, hot mama attitude! And a new decree…No More Mom Jeans!
